Railroading with JM can be used without an account. Creating an account is optional.
Optional Railroading with JM accounts
You can browse journeys, Rail Explorer and the rest of the site without signing in. If you choose “Continue with Google”, we create an optional Railroading with JM account so we can recognise you on return visits and support future personal features.
Information we store
For an optional account we store Google identity information supplied at sign-in: a provider account identifier, email address, display name and profile image URL where available. If you choose to connect YouTube, we also store your verified YouTube Channel ID and channel title (and thumbnail URL when provided) so we can compare it with imported membership snapshots. We do not ask you to create a separate Railroading with JM username or password.
Google sign-in
Sign-in is handled by Google authentication. You approve access in Google’s own sign-in flow. We use that to create or recognise your optional account on railroadingwithjm.limanett.no. Connecting YouTube is a separate, optional step that requests read-only access to identify your own YouTube channel.
Sessions and essential cookies
When you sign in we set essential cookies so the site can keep you signed in securely and protect account actions. You can sign out at any time. Public browsing does not require these cookies.
- Essential signed-in session cookie (only after you sign in).
- Essential security token for account actions.
- Language preference (English or Norwegian).
- Technical keys used for install / app behaviour.
- Analytics: Google Analytics with Consent Mode (analytics allowed; ads denied).
No Railroading with JM passwords
We do not store a Railroading with JM password. Authentication is performed by Google, so there is no site password to reset here.
YouTube Channel Membership
You may optionally connect your YouTube channel to your Railroading with JM account. We verify your Channel ID with Google’s YouTube Data API (read-only) when you choose Connect YouTube. Membership status is then compared with official YouTube Studio membership exports that the channel owner imports. This is not automatic Members API synchronization. Sunday Specials and other listed journeys remain publicly visible; membership may unlock personal benefits later, not hide the catalogue.
Administration and security
Site administration is limited to designated Google accounts. Account and membership administration tools are private and not part of the public site.
Email / transactional messages
We may send simple transactional email related to your account (for example a welcome message or a confirmation when membership is connected). We do not use your account for newsletters or marketing lists. There is no password-reset email because we do not store site passwords.
Storage and deletion
Account data is stored for the Railroading with JM service and is not published as a public directory. You may request deletion of your account by contacting support@limanett.no. We will delete or anonymise account data that is no longer required, subject to legal obligations.
Your choices / contact
You can keep using the site without an account, sign out at any time, disconnect YouTube from your account page, or contact support@limanett.no with privacy questions or deletion requests.
